We soon realised that the children of our schools needed reading books that were set in a context that they could relate to. We decided to write our own! The elephants are coming was self-published in 2015 followed by Lindiwe to the rescue in 2016. Penguin publishers adopted The elephants are coming and Aunt Alice and the Lion in 2017. Other books and stories have been written and will be published when further funds are raised.
The illustrations are created from photographs of the Ngamo village and primary. The children love to see the pictures of their own school and children wearing their school uniforms. The stories are based on events that the children can relate to. All royalties are donated to the Hwange Schools Project. Copies of the books are given to the schools to be used as readers and sold by Imvelo Safari Lodges to guests to raise funds for the project.
